Thames Path Mighty Hike 29th July

To whom it may concern,

I would just like to introduce myself as the Project Manager for the Macmillan Mighty Hike Thames Path Challenge which will be taking place on Saturday 29th July 2017. The Thames Path Mighty Hike will start at Windsor Racecourse between 8:00am and 10:00am where around 1000 walkers will make their way along the Thames Path 26 mile route to Mill Meadows, Henley. We will see all types of people participate from experienced walkers to first timers, who all share one focus of raising much needed funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Action Challenge (www.actionchallenge.com), experienced event organisers, are co-ordinating all logistics of the event and we would like to notify all authorities along the route to make you aware of the event should there be any incidents. The entire route has been fully researched using existing public footpaths and participants will be set off in small groups over a period of half an hour. The route will be fully signed and marshalled, with all signage removed at the end of the event. We will also conduct a full pre-event recce of the route to identify any significant risks, which we will log into a risk assessment and apply appropriate safety measures to reduce any potential hazards.

*These are the estimated times of the very first walkers and the slowest walkers. The majority of participants are likely to pass through the rest stops between the times detailed above.

EVENT PLANNING INFORMATION

Route is fully marked with pink arrows
Marshals, Guides and medics will patrol the route.
Road warning signs will be positioned for both traffic and participants where necessary.
All signage will be removed after the last participants have passed through.
All participants are requested to follow the highway and country codes, walk on the right, stay on the designated path and instructed not to litter.
Event clear-up includes collection of any rubbish along route.
Event management plan includes risk assessment and contingency plans in case of unexpected events (i.e. extreme weather conditions).
Action Challenge public liability insurance certificate can be provided upon request.
