Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead
Press Release 22.6.18
Free compost giveaway to green fingered residents
Residents are being encouraged to come along with their containers and shovels and pick up some free compost as part of the Royal Borough’s compost giveaway in Dedworth.
The event will run from 9.30am until 12.30pm on Saturday 30 June at Clewer Memorial Recreation Ground, Dedworth Road, Windsor.
Five tonnes of free compost, made from residents’ own recycled green garden waste, will be given away and is an ideal soil improver for gardens in preparation for the summer.
In addition to the compost, residents will also be able to recycle unwanted small electrical items, pick up free food waste bags, order a new bin and pick up information on recycling.
Residents are asked to come along with their own bags, containers and shovels as the compost will be loose.
Cllr Jesse Grey, cabinet member for environmental services (inc. parking and flooding), said: “This is a great opportunity for environmentally friendly residents to collect some free compost and bring their unwanted or broken small electrical items for recycling at the same time.
“The council’s recycling team will be on hand to provide recycling advice and information about composting. We know how much these compost giveaways are valued by our residents and we hope that this one will be just as successful.
“This is also an opportunity to thank residents and to give them back the results of their very own recycling.”
