Traffic Improvement – Keate’s Lane / Slough Road

There has been discussion recently regarding the proposal to improve the junction at Keate’s Lane/ Slough Rd.

Originally RBWM had submitted a capital bid (joint funded with Eton College) with the intention of the scheme being constructed in the summer holidays 2019 if approved.

However, Eton College have offered to fund the scheme if it can accelerate the implementation and improve road safety as soon as possible. This is endorsed by Cllr Bicknell as Lead Member and Cllr Alexander.

The Service Improvement Manager has been liaising with the traffic signal engineer and contractors (Volker Highways) and it seems possible to start engineering work in late January with traffic signal works following in February to coincide with Eton College half term.

In order to meet these timescales RBWM needs to finalise the design next week so the contractors can prepare, order road closures and order necessary equipment.
