Thames Path Macmillan Mighty Hike. Update

Event Information: Thames Path Macmillan Mighty Hike event

To whom it may concern,

I hope this email finds you well. I work for Threshold Sports and we are hoping to deliver the postponed Macmillan Mighty Hike event in the Thames Path on Saturday 10th October this year starting at Windsor Racecourse and finishing at Remenham Farm. This marathon distance trek is part of a national series which is set to raise millions of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Please follow this link for more details about the series: https://mightyhikes.macmillan.org.uk/

Please see below for the planned route. This is subject to change and a final route will be displayed on the Macmillan website closer to the event.

I would like to reassure you that we are closely monitoring the ever-evolving situation and we are carefully planning for a series of different scenarios whilst we await Government guidance that will affect outdoor mass gatherings scheduled for 3 months’ time.

We’re cautiously considering every element of the logistical delivery in consultation with our specialist Health and Safety advisors. In particular we are focussing on the measures that we envisage may be required to effectively implement social distancing. By developing robust plans and procedures now, we’ll be better able to implement the necessary control measures as defined by official guidance at the time of the each event. This approach gives us the best chance of the events going ahead safely and raising critical funds for Macmillan.

When the official guidance becomes clearer as to what is required to run these events safely, or indeed whether it will be possible to hold them at all in 2020, we will be back in touch to confirm or cancel the event. Our number one priority is for the health, safety and welfare of all those involved in the Mighty Hikes. This includes not only participants, but the crew and volunteer teams, our suppliers and the local communities who so kindly support and help plan these important fundraising events.

We thank you once more for your continued understanding; we appreciate that it’s an uncertain time and promise that we are doing everything we can to navigate these unprecedented circumstances to make the event successful for everyone involved.

If you have any further questions, or would like to discuss either of these events in more detail, please don’t hesitate in giving me a call.

Many thanks,

Louise Cornforth
